"If you don't change direction you'll get where you're headed" Chinese proverb
Do you know where you're headed ?
Personal development is the centre of my life. I feel that it is the centre of everyone's life, though they are not necessarily aware of this. Everyone is living their life somewhere on the continuum between bare survival and total fullfilment. Our movement along this continuum towards total fullfiment is personal development. It is interesting to note that death lies at both ends of this continuum: if we are unable to survive we die; once we have achieved total fullfiment the next step is to die. I am choosing to do things which move me along this continuum. One very important thing which helps my personal development is helping others along their chosen paths through life.
I have come to realise that each person's perception of their life experiences can be, and often is, dramatically different from someone else's perception of the same thing. I notice this particularly when talking to other people about a film I've seen or a book I've read. It all depends on where you're "at" in your life. I think it was Robert the Bruce who was watching a spider building a web. He got the message: If at first you don't succeed try and try again. Me and "trying" don't get on! I know that for me "trying" is related to straining and failing. When I saw a spider building a web the message I got was: If at first you don't succeed build the web somewhere else. If that doesn't work then maybe you're just not cut out to build webs.
