I have worked and played in the field of Artificial Intelligence for many years. It is fascinating. It was not possible to study AI at university because I was unable to find any universities which offered AI - it was that long ago. I was able to do some postgraduate AI research (a board game learning algorithm), and that was over 25 years ago. Unfortunately I had to get a real job (I chose realtime systems) but it was years before I was able to get a real job in AI. Now I am involved with AI research fulltime. I continue to find it fascinating.
I have put together a few pages on Artificial Intelligence which I hope you will find interesting. I welcome feedback of any sort.
Those of you who are new to AI will find my introduction to artificial intelligence useful. Then there is my annotated artificial intelligence links which will give you some idea of the range of AI resources available on the Internet.
My current research is writing a strong go playing program. It will be the strongest in the world by June 2004.
In addition to my main research there are two projects I will be working on. The first is my Islands of Knowledge project which is to do with building developing and, most important, linking islands of knowledge. The second project is Emulating Me. This is currently a thought experiment asking the question "Why can't I build an emulation of myself ??". What I want to know is whether it is possible "in principle" to build an emulation of a human being. If not why not, if we can then where is(are) the best place(s) to start ??
